Hearty Recipes for Overnight Oats

Hey there Everybody!

I hope this post finds you all doing well!

It's been a while since I've posted, I know.

Our lives have been busy, busy lately due to work and prepping for Austin's upcoming graduation.

Can I just take a minute and ask how this little guy is graduating from high school already???

TIME HAS FLOWN BY!!!!

Even though I have been so busy, I still love to spend as much time as possible in my kitchen cooking my family's favorites and also trying out new recipes when I can!

Today I want to share a somewhat "new" twist on an old favorite with you!

Overnight Oatmeal

I've recently heard about Overnight Oats and I was curious, because the reviews were all so positive!

I decided to give them a try for myself.

The first thing you need to do is to find yourself some jars or containers with a lid!

Once you have your jars, you will need to decide what flavors of oatmeal you would like to create!

I chose...

Cinnamon Roll with Toasted Pecans

Apple Cinnamon

and

Wild Berry

I'll start with the recipe I created for

Apple Cinnamon  Overnight Oatmeal.

Here's what you'll need:

Raw Oats
(I used a mixture of Steel Cut and Regular Oats)
Chia Seeds (optional)
Milk
Half & Half
Apples
Cinnamon
A Splash of Vanilla
Brown Sugar
Maple Syrup
and
Coarse Salt

Before I take you through the step by step process, let me take a minute to introduce you to and brag about
Chia Seeds.

These little seeds are really good for you!

They are considered a "Super Food"!
They contain
Omega 3 Fatty Acids
Protein
Calcium
Antioxidants
Iron
and
6 grams of Fiber per tablespoon!!!!

They can increase your energy and decrease your inflammation!

They can help control your hunger and they act as a thickening agent!

I added them to all of my oat recipes, but adding them to yours is completely optional.

Okay, let's make some Overnight Oatmeal!

Start by adding 1/2 cup of raw oats into your jar.

If you are using Chia Seeds, add 1 tablespoon of the seeds into the jar of oats.

You will need to add your liquid to the Oats and Seeds next.

I added 3/4 cup of Milk
and
1/4 cup of Half & Half

Now for the fun part...

I peeled and finely chopped about 1/4 of an Apple and added about 1 teaspoon of Ground Cinnamon, 1 tablespoon of Brown Sugar, a dash of Coarse Salt, a splash of vanilla and a splash of Maple Syrup to my jar! :)

Speaking of Maple Syrup...

Whenever we order pancakes at Cracker Barrel, we often have extra syrup that we bring home!

Today, this is the syrup I decided to use for my Overnight Oats!

Once you have everything in the jar, just put the lid on, stir and it's ready for the fridge!

 Here's my recipe for

Wild Berry Overnight Oatmeal...

You will need:

Raw Oats
Chia Seeds
Milk
Half & Half
Fresh Blueberries
Dried Cranberries
A Dash of Cinnamon
A Splash of Vanilla
Brown Sugar
Honey
 and
Coarse Salt

Put it all into a jar, stir it up and put the lid on!
It's ready for the fridge!

The last recipe I made was for

Cinnamon Roll Overnight Oats

This one was my very favorite one!!

You will need:

Raw Oats
Chia Seeds
Milk
Half & Half
Pecans
(Toasted and Chopped)
1 Teaspoon of Ground Cinnamon
A Tiny Dash of Ground Ginger
A Dash of Ground Allspice
A Splash of Vanilla
A Dash of Coarse Salt
Brown Sugar
A Splash of Maple Syrup

That's the last one!
Just seal, stir and get it in the fridge with the others!

You will need to put your jars into the fridge for at least 8 hours and they can keep fresh in the fridge up to 2 days.

The next morning, I decided to try out the Overnight Oats!

You can supposedly eat them cold, straight from the jar.

I however, do not prefer them that way.

I chose to pour mine into a bowl and heat in the microwave.

Here's what I did to my delicious bowl of Cinnamon Roll Overnight Oats...

I made a quick cinnamon roll icing with powdered sugar, vanilla and milk.

I added a small amount to my oatmeal and then...

I know this is just a bowl of oatmeal,

BUT

the toasted pecans, the cinnamon, the brown sugar, the icing...

WOW!!

YUMMMMMMMMMMMM!!!

This was very filling and very delicious!!

It also seemed to keep me feeling full until well into the afternoon!

I would definitely recommend Overnight Oatmeal for anyone who enjoys the instant packs and for anyone who is in a hurry in the mornings! If you are able to prepare these for your family the evening before you need them, all you will have to do the next morning is heat them up in the microwave and serve your family a delicious hearty breakfast that will carry them through their morning!

Overnight Oatmeal is a must try and can be a healthier option for you because you are adding your own ingredients!

I hope you have a very happy day!
